what a nightmare…

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

What a nightmare life has been since last Friday.

On Fri afternoon I went to our new flat.

It was not cleaned even if it’s ‘commercial custom’ here.

I booked cleaning staff for tomorrow morning. They’re going to

clean the whole place. Every detail.

Previous owner just took all their stuff and didn’t clean.

argh!

Would you leave a place this dirty?

A couple of items have disappeared so I contacted our

insurance company to get compensation for all this hassle.

My arm/shoulder is better. I got strong relaxants.

I can’t totally lift my hand up on top of my head but

it’s not a vegetable anymore.

Oh, boy how down I’ve been last four days…

But now I can see light again :)

WARNING to all expats moving to Casablanca, Morocco

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010

We’ve lived in Casa soon 7 months.

I have nothing good to say how housing is taken care of in this city.

Owners are greedy and don’t keep their word.

They are worst of all countries we’ve lived!

TRUST is totally unknown word here.

What I’ve experienced corruption, nepotism are far more important than the work people are hired for.

Everywhere else, even in Egypt!!!, we were treated better!

I had to clean the cooker. It was cleaned but still disgusting.

Our oven doesn’t show the temperature how it should.

They have not found a correct button.

Nobody says nothing.

SILENCE is normal way to take care about things here.

Water leaking in our master bathroom. Still water in the constructions? :) !

NOBODY CARES!!!!

Our landlord promised that this cabinet door will be fixed. Not done.

He promised other things too but not done.

WE should’ve KNOW that this water heater is wrongly installed!

It should be UPRIGHT!

We can have only a half shower with hot water!!!!

During the summer it wasn’t that important.

I thought hot water was ‘finished from the house’ – I didn’t realize that

all our hot water is in this tank and it’s wrongly installed. How stupid I am.

We have complained about ALL the issues about this flat,

here’s the answer we got:

“If the appartement presents and shows all these problems

why did you choose to take it at all?”

How can we know BEFOREHAND that there’s water going to leak from upstairs?

How can we know that ALL PROMISED things by landlord should’ve done BEFORE moving in

and NOT TO T R U S T his word?

Whose  job is it to make sure the owner keeps his word?

Who should support US?

Now we are accused that all this shit is OUR fault!

I’m so fed up with people here. Everything is always someone else’s fault.

I have not met ONE single person here who would say ‘I’m sorry, it’s MY fault.’ NONE!

I’m almost ready to leave the country and never come back.

This is the WORST place we’ve ever been.

We’ve NEVER EVER been treated as BAD as here in Casablanca.

SHAME ON YOU!!!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Last week I got a Tweet from The Social Traveler – of course we wanted to meet him!

Ladies and gentlemen,

THE Social Traveler!

“Hi! I’m Bjorn and passionate about traveling and Social Media!

Since 2006 I’ve had the luck to be working in Social Media

and saw from upclose how rapidly a worldwide network of people took shape.

Now I’ve always wanted to travel the world, so I decided to combine both passions and I started working on ‘The Social Traveler’ idea.”

Bjorn showed his pictures on Picasa

We had dinner at Syrian restaurant…

His  camera has seen a lot of beautiful girls people – are you next? 8-)

We took a taxi to…

…La Bodega de Casablanca, Olé!

Bjorn has a similar picture on his Picasa album – I checked! :-D

Finland at Expo 2010 Shanghai, China…Kertokaa mielipiteenne videosta!!!

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Finland will be part of the huge Shanghai Expo 2010 event. We will have a self-built pavilion with clear Finnish design. The name of the Finland Pavilion is Kirnu (in Finnish), Giant’s Kettle (in English) and 冰壶in Chinese.

Feel free to watch a short video made on the pavilion concept on website / YouTube. And please do not hesitate to forward this message to your friends.

finlandatexpo2010.fi

Now. Let’s have fun! Please watch the video, about 2 mins, and comment here:

What kind of impression you have about Finland based on the video?

Suomi osallistuu Shanghai Expoon 2010 KIRNU –nimisellä paviljongilla.
Tuosta paviljongista on tehty mielikuvavideo. Katsokaa, noin 2 min.

finlandatexpo2010.fi

Pidetään vähän hauskaa! :-)

Kertokaa mielipiteenne:

Onko tämä Suomi-brändiä parhaimmillaan?

Sana on vapaa! ja asiallinen, kiitos!

ps. I will NOT comment your comments for a while…

ps. Vastaan toivottavasti tuhansiin (aina voi toivoa!, eikö?!) kommentteihin myöhemmin…

aaah….kuin suomalaista siskonmakkarasoppaa!

This soup was similar to our Finnish ”siskonmakkarasoppa”(soup with small pieces of sausage…)

Kello 9 kohdalla nami kuivalihaa, tässä ilman maustekastiketta…varmuuden vuoksi koska oli kuulemma tosi hottia!
Sen takana n. klo 10 on viininlehdistä tehtya salaatintapaista, mausteista…
Kurkkujen vieressä on maissista tehty kakkunen, sisällä maissin jyviä…
Klo 14 kohdalla mehukasta, ihanasti maustettua & grillattua kanaa…

At 9 o’clock a kind of Beef Jerky, I ate it like this without hot sauce…just in case…
At 10 a kind of salad made of wine leaves and spices…
Next to cucumber is a “corn cake”…
At 2 yammy spiced & grilled chicken…

Right: Elvien (our neighbor in the compound) from Holland.
Left: our new friend from Canada, Gail.

Busy eating and getting to know each other! You know how it is!

Oikealla Elvien Hollannista, asuinalueemme naapuri.
Vasemmalla, uusi tuttava Gail, Kanadasta.

Kiire syödä ja tutustua samalla kertaa!
Kun olet juuri saanut eteesi lämpimän ruuan ja samalla pöytään istuu sinulle aivan uusi tuttavuus – haluat syödä ruuan lämpimänä mutta kuitenkin tutustua uuteen ihmiseen, hirveä hoppuhan siinä tuli!

Ibu (Madam) Yasmin, wife of the Indonesian Ambassador to Cairo.

Ibu Yasmin, so warm and friendly with all the customers in the canteen.
She came to talk with us too and made us feel welcome to their meeting place.
I also heard that Indonesia has similar kind of places all around the world where Indonesian people can get together and also foreign friends are welcome.
What a great way to make new friends!

Excellent way to learn about other culture… The world needs more places like this!
Ibu (Madam) Yasmin, Indonesian Kairon-suurlähettilään vaimo.

Ibu Yasmin tuli juttelemaan myös meidän kanssamme. Voih, miten lämmin ihminen! Hän sai meidät tuntemaan olomme sydämellisesti tervetulleiksi. Ibu Yasminissa on sellaista ihmisläheistä lumovoimaa jota harvoin tapaa. Ibu Yasmin on täällä kaikkien Indonesialaisten emo. Hän saa varmasti jokaisen oman maansa kansalaisen tuntemaan olonsa kotoisaksi missä hän milloinkin miehensä kanssa maataan edustaa.
Lisää maailmaan Ibu Yasminin kaltaisia emoja! :-)
