my summer 2013 images part 3. /Gothenburg, Sweden
While in Gothenburg we saw art, pure art here:
A museum with good shadow 🙂
‘At the sea’ by Albert Edefelt.
‘Albert Gustaf Aristides Edelfelt (21 July 1854 – 18 August 1905)
was a Swedish-speaking Finnish painter.’
One of my favorite artists!

Hugo Birger 12.1.1854 – 17.6.1887
From wikipedia:
‘In Paris at the end of 1886, Birger made his largest painting ever,
Frukosten hos Ledoyen.
It depicts several famous Nordic painters having breakfast together on the day of the
Paris Salon’s opening. It was a common tradition for the painters
to gather on that day and have breakfast at the Ledoyen restaurant
to celebrate the opening of the Paris Salon.’
wow, wow, wow…look at the lights and shadows….so beautiful!
What is interesting is that in this painting you can see Albert Edefelt – cheers!
Outside of the museum you can see this guy
‘Poseidon, the sea god, by Carl Milles is one of Gothenburg’s most famous landmarks.’

Love the breakfast painting and the statue has a very nice butt.
Thanks for this lovely little trip through the museum!
That painting of the painters is astounding — so large and yet so full of detail!
Thanks for sharing!

LOVED all of this art.
Our youngest son took himself off to Sweden all by himself one of his college summers.
A wonderful exhibit! The Birger painting is wonderful, it must be fun to find as many other artists among the models.
I enjoyed the museum tour. Thanks for the arrows as we in the Americas are often geographically challenged. I agree with the others: that’s quite the breakfast.
It sounds like a very fun trip to go on in the summer. Love the detailed painting. Thank you for educating me this morning.
Those paintings are beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Nice Poseidon too.
Dropping by from SIMC.
Love it all-especially the fact that the museum is well lit and that they let you take photographs. The museums here are so paranoid about UV damage, that the art seems to be in the dark and difficult to see.
Lovely expedition you had there!
thanks for sharing your time at the museum with us…beautiful work!!!
Wow, that painting is fantastic. I love it! And that’s quite a breakfast!
Poor Hugo only lived to be 32. That’s sad.
I like the shadows both inside and out of this lovely city – this shadowy frame has such an intricate shapes! I really enjoy the Impressionist painting of Birger – it feels lifelike yet abstract at the same time. The artist offers us a fun glimpse of him in his work. A playful touch! You have had a very cool Baltic holiday…
Wonderful, interesting post for the day and superb captures! I love the details of the paintings! Hope your weekend is going well!
O how lovely to wander and enjoy these works of art in such a gorgeous building. A most unusual, creative facade.
great post
Hienoja yksityiskohtia:)
